Guidelines

Priority is given to those who provide direct humanitarian services in the areas of child welfare, disabled and senior programs, education, homelessness, hunger, women/families/men in crisis, arts-based service programs, and community development in Cumberland County, NJ.

We prefer to fund specific programs versus contributions to an overall operating budget. Moreover, we do not grant, ever, for animal welfare, religious ministry, or individuals in need.

Grants range from $250-$20,000, though typical donations to any single organization average $5000. In total, the Joseph L. Carley Foundation has contributed more than one million dollars to over 100 non-profit organizations.

Organizations may submit multiple requests if they are seeking funds for different projects. Otherwise, non-profit groups should apply yearly for repeat grants.

Grants are distributed twice a year. We prefer applications be submitted through this website but will accept requests by mail.

Application deadlines are March 1 and October 1. All eligible applications will be seriously considered and decisions made by April 15 and November 15.
